Obituary for Cecilia (Sheila) Mata Villarreal

Cecilia Mata Villarreal, 72 years old of Quincy, passed away on Wednesday, April 27th at Central Washington Hospital, following a short battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on November 11th, 1943 to Jose Canales Mata and Felice Sanchez Alvarado at Uvalde, Texas. She attended school both in San Antonio, TX and in Quincy, WA.

In 1968, she married Jesus De Leon Villarreal in Encinal Texas. They lived there for a few years then moved to Quincy after their 2nd child as born in 1971. Their 3rd child was born in Wenatchee, WA in 1976. She worked in farm labor then worked at Lamb Weston for over 30 years, then finally retired so that she could care for her mother, her family and their needs.

Children: Jessie Lynn Mendoza (Villarreal), Jesus Villarreal, Jr. and Jamie L. Villarreal
Grandchildren: Jessica Lynn Garcia (Mendoza), Jesus III, Jaime Lyric, Mia Lynn, Marisol and Melinda Marie Villarreal.

Cecilia had a very big heart and loved her family very much. She took pride in her grandkids and all they did. They were her “babies” she’d call them. She was a very happy person who loved music, dancing, going to bingo and the casino with friends, family gatherings, and always accepted everyone as her family.

Cecilia came from a large family of 8, including Joe Mata, Dorothy Estrada, Margie Rodriguez, Roger Mata, Alfredo Mata, Mary Esther Simchon, and Rose Marie Martinez. She was proceeded in death by her father Jose C. Mata, her mother Felice S. Alvarado, her sister Margie Rodriguez, her brother Joe Mata and several young nephews.

Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, Quincy. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Quincy. Concluding services will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.
