Obituary for Rosalie Viola Flint

Rosalie Viola  Flint
Rosalie Viola Flint was born to James Austin Matthews and Mildred Viola Vulgamore Matthews November 1, 1931, at home in the Fairview Valley near Coquille, Oregon. She died the evening of August 10, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Washington, surrounded by family. Rosalie was raised on her parent’s dairy farm and moved with her family in 1946 to Washington. She graduated from Selah High School and then attended Central Washington University where she was granted a BA in Education in 1954.

Rosalie eloped with David Leroy “Roy” Flint, August 19, 1955, to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. They were married for 56 years when Roy passed. They had three children David, Janet, and Monica. Roy and Rose farmed on Royal Slope prior to moving to Quincy Washington in 1970. She was an elementary school teacher and retired in 1991 from the Quincy School District, after teaching for 31 years in the Washington public schools
.
She spent her retirement years traveling with her husband, assembling roughly 40 books on genealogy (some of which were published), and enjoying her grandkids.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is survived by her children David Charles Flint (Julie), Janet Viola Reynolds (David), Monica Rose Freer (Chuck), and grandchildren Aaron and Nicholas Prchal (Kellee), Allison Reynolds Robbins (Brian) and Rebekah Reynolds Bushman (Calvin), Justin and Matthew Flint, and Robert, Daniel, Krishelle, and Emily Freer and 5 Great Grandchildren Seth and Alexandra Freer, Nathaniel Robbins, Everett Flint, and Colton Prchal.

Her memorial service will be held Friday, August 17th at 11 am at the Quincy Free Methodist Church 301 I St. SW Quincy, WA 98848. A meal will follow.

In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, take your kids or grandkids out for ice cream and cherish your loved ones.
