Obituary for Johanna Koole

Johanna (Jo) DeBeeld Koole passed away on Sunday June 8, 2014 at the Quincy Convalescent Center at the age of 88. She was born on April 4, 1926 in Lynden, WA to Arie and Wilhemenia DeBeeld.
She married Bastian Koole in Lynden on November 20, 1950 while B was serving for the US Army. Upon his completion of duty, they settled in Lynden. While there, they were blessed with 3 children, Bonnie, Debbie and Lennie. In 1963 they moved to Quincy where the area was just developing. Here they welcomed another daughter Karen. Jo’s main occupation was taking care of B and the kids. She loved working in her garden and was very proud of her flowers. All that knew Jo will remember her baking and cooking. Her happiest times were when the house was full of family and friends.
Johanna is survived by her children, Bonnie (Jack Kelleher) Koole of Vancouver, WA, Debbie (Waymer) Urwin, Lennie Koole , and Karen (Bob) Keller all of Quincy, grandchildren Nikki Wallace, Travis Koole, Kaylee Keller, Lance (Jen) Urwin, Shane (Nikki) Urwin and Allison (Cory) Booth as well as 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Paul (Joyce) DeBeeld, sisters-in-law Cathy Lankhaar, Frances Koole and Marge DeBeeld. She was preceded in death by her husband, B in 2012, her parents, 1 great grandson, brothers Bill and John, and sisters Alice VanderHoek and Dena Heutink,
Jo’s family would like to thank the Quincy Valley Medical Center for their care the last couple months, but especially to the Cambridge for all the love and compassion they have given mom the last 2 years. We request in lieu of flowers to please make donations in Jo’s name to the Cambridge at 301 H St SW – Quincy, WA 98848
Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, Quincy from 2 PM – 8 PM.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Christian Reformed Church, Quincy, with concluding services to follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.
