Obituary for Irene Olson

Mary Irene Olson was 84 and living at Quincy Valley Medical Center in Quincy, WA when she went home to be with Lord on September 2, 2014. Irene was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2006 which she battled the remainder of her life. Irene was born November 14th 1930 to Samuel and Stella McNeilly in Colfax, WA where she resided until 1936 before moving to Addy, WA in the Summit Valley area. In 1944 Irene moved to Chewelah, WA where she met her future husband Oscar. The two were married on September 14th 1947 in Colfax, WA.
Irene was a homemaker while Oscar worked at Magnasite, until it closed in 1968. Irene and Oscar moved to Clinton, WA on Whidby Island until finally calling Quincy, WA home in 1969 where she started work in the food industry. Irene is survived by sisters Sammie Bolton of Chewelah, and Jackie Aebly (husband Ed) of Colville, daughter Yvonne Davila (husband Rod) of Quincy, Grandson Rodney Davila (wife Inna) and five great-grandchildren Andre, Nathan, Lexis, Maya, and Emma all of Moses Lake. Sisters Louise Gauthier, and Ruth Pangle, and husband Oscar Olson preceded Irene in death. Irene also had many nieces and nephews who all simply referred to her as “Auntie Irene.”
Irene lived a fulfilled life with her husband and loved to be outdoors hiking, fishing, camping, and travelling anywhere life called them. She was a lover of nature and animals, especially cats. Irene was a member of the United Church of Christ in Chewelah and later in Quincy. In recent years Irene always looked forward to Thursday night when she would attend the senior center dinner and social night where she was also an officer. Irene loved to play cards and take trips to Reno on charter buses with her friends. After Oscar passed of course she missed him dearly and looked forward to reuniting with him. When Irene knew the fight was over she said to her daughter Yvonne “I’m ready to go home and be with Oscar, maybe we can go fishing together again!” And by the grace of God I believe that is where she is right this moment.
