Obituary for Michael (Mick) J Thayer

Michael John Thayer, or Mick as he was called by those who knew him, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Central Washington Hospital at the age of 63. Michael was born on May 19, 1952 in Toppenish, Washington to Jack and Dorothy Thayer.

Mick was a graduate of Quincy High School as well Washington State University receiving his degree in Agronomy. He loved farming and lived much his life working in the Columbia Basin. He owned and operated his own farm in partnership with his brother Jim for much of his life. At other times he worked for National Frozen Foods, Simplot, and Tom Downs Farms among other employers. Mick was a Cougar football fan and could be found listening to a game while operating equipment. When not working, Mick enjoyed spending time with his family in activities like boating, attending football games, watching movies and celebrating birthdays and holidays.

Michael is survived by his wife, Janet Thayer and his 4 children Drew Thayer, Evan Thayer, Mark Thayer and Lindsay Thayer. His brothers are Robert (Bob) and James (Jim) Thayer.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1101 2nd Ave SE, Quincy, WA. Concluding services and internment will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.
