Obituary for Lloyd Henry Kok

Lloyd Henry Kok, age 88, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Quincy, WA. Lloyd was born on March 28, 1928 in Douglas County, South Dakota, to parents John and Lena Kok.

He lived in South Dakota until he met and married Grace Honcoop on December 30, 1958. They made their home in Lynden for 15 years before moving to Quincy where they lived for the past 42 years.

Lloyd was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his church (Quincy Christian Reformed Church) and was a founding member of the Quincy Kiwanis Club. He also served his country in the Army from 1952-1954. He could also be found working at Farmer Consumer Awareness Days for many years before declining health made him slow down. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind and gentle person.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Grace; three children Lavonne (Henry) Bansberg; Larry (Shelby) Kok and Laureen (Ben) Hernandez. He is survived by his grandchildren, Michael (fiancé Kelsey) Kok, Keisha Urwin, Dakota Kok, Joshua Bansberg, Jacob Bansberg, Julia Hernandez, Matthew Hernandez and great-granddaughter, Brynlee Kok. He is also survived by sisters, Evelyn DeRuiter and Doris Jensen and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena, brothers, Orin and Casey, and sisters, Herena and Hulda.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Quincy Christian Reformed Church, 420 H Street SE, Quincy, WA All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lloyd’s life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
