Obituary for Otto Tolsma

Otto Tolsma
Otto Tolsma of Quincy, Washington passed away and went into the arms of our Lord on March 27th, 2017. He will be dearly missed. Otto was born on October 13, 1930 to John and Pearl Tolsma and grew up in Bigelow, Minnesota.

When he was a teenager, he moved with his family to Washington State. Born during the Great Depression, he built himself up from very little into a successful farmer, helping with the college education of his two children, Jean Brender and Kevin Tolsma. He loved working the land and being outdoors, doing so until his health issues became too severe. In all, he farmed for nearly 50 years in the Quincy area.

Otto was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Geisink.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Tolsma; his daughter, Jean Brender, her husband, Dennis Brender, and granddaughter, Valerie Brender (Blake Brandes); his son, Kevin Tolsma, his wife Sarah Hashimoto, granddaughter, Isabella Tolsma, and two grandsons, Peter and Patrick Tolsma.
He is also survived by his sister Rena Steensma and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Quincy Valley Cemetery on Tuesday, April 4th at 11 a.m. with a light lunch to follow at the Quincy Christian Reformed Church at 420 H Street, Quincy, WA.
