On Monday June 17, 2019, at the young age of 39, Angela Grace Lopez (Boorman) was welcomed into the arms of Jesus after a final battle with her lung condition. She was a beautiful soul, filled with passion and love for everyone she came into contact with. Angela left behind her husband Carlos Lopez; grandparents Ilene Boorman, Ken and Elaine Goudy; parents Wes and Julie Boorman; and 8 siblings: Helen, Kenzy, Pierre, and Jeff Boorman, Trish Koethke, Christie Gietl, Rebecca Peterson, and Debbie Hede.

Angela was born in Wenatchee, Washington on May 4, 1980. She grew up in George, Washington as a farmer’s daughter and oldest sister to what would become 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Angela attended Moses Lake Christian School for the majority of her schooling, and graduated from high school in 1998. After earning her Teaching Certificate in Secondary Math from Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon, she returned to Central Washington to begin her teaching career at New Life Christian School in Ephrata, WA as a middle and high school math teacher.

She met and developed a friendship with Carlos Lopez while attending First Baptist Church of Quincy. On June 18, 2004, Angela and Carlos were married in Rock Island. They have been faithfully committed to each other ever since.

In 2005, Angela was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, and began the difficult task of fighting a disease that made it progressively more difficult for her heart and lungs to work as they should. Although she was given a prognosis of only 3-5 years, modern medicine gifted her with 14 more after her original diagnosis.

Angela just completed her fourth year teaching at Moses Lake Christian Academy, where she began teaching in 2015. She dedicated her time and heart to the students she taught, ensuring they received not only the best math education, but also life skills and Godly training.

Although she was physically unable to have children of her own, Angela wasn’t without children to love. She and Carlos raised his son Giovanni until God took him home two years ago after a battle with Leukemia. Angela also took great pride in being the best Tia she could to her many nieces and nephews. She always ensured each one got a special one-on-one date for ice cream each summer, and showered them with love and gifts at every opportunity. They definitely knew their Tia loved them.

Angela and Carlos were active and dedicated members of Grace Point Church in Ephrata, Washington, where they enjoyed serving together. Angela’s heart was broken for the lost and needy, and she made it a priority to organize and go on mission trips at least once a year with students or her church. Her faith in God kept her strong through the difficult times and at peace with His plan until the end.

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 21, 2019 at 2pm at Community Church of Ephrata. All are welcome. Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

A fund has been set up to cover medical and funeral costs, and can be found at:

Angela and I became close during her time at MLCA. She amazed me at the many hours she spend preparing for the following day. Many days til 6 or 7pm. Her room was close to my office and we spent precious hrs sharing. Her love for her students was very evident. She had a quietness about herself that made it easy to share. She loved Carlos with her whole heart. I miss you Angela , Jeni.
