Obituary for Anne M Durfee

Anne M. Durfee, of Quincy, passed away Dec. 12, 2021. She was 82 years old. She was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Burley, Idaho to Robert and Hazel Lemke. She attended schools in Oakley, Idaho and graduated from Gooding High School.

She married Dean Durfee on July 10, 1957, in Elko, NV. They moved to the Quincy area in 1965. Anne was a stay-at-home mother for several years. She participated in her children’s activities, Cub Scouts, Camp Fire, Little League and Horseshoes, among other things and ran a daycare from her home. Later she worked outside the home at The Post-Register where she became active in the downtown business organization. She worked there for several years before taking on a position with Studio 90 and later with Central Bean Company, where she retired at the age of eighty. Anne was very involved in the community. She was a charter member of the Quincy Valley lions Club and collaborated with Farmer-Consumer Awareness Day. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children; Ray (Carrie) Durfee, of Creston; Gary (Barb) Durfee and Janice (Wes) Stephens, all of Ephrata; eight grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister Karen, plus numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Dean, siblings Bob, Laura, Allen, and her great-grandchild Austin.

The family will hold private services.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made to Providence Health Care Foundation, Spokane, WA, or the Quincy Valley Lions Club.
