Obituary for Arnold "Arnie" Omlin

Arnold Frank Omlin (Aged 90)

Arnold Frank Omlin was called home by Jesus on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022. Arnie was a kind
soul, loved and respected by all he met. He was a great father, husband, grandfather,
great-grandfather and brother. We were blessed to have him in our lives. Arnie was born to
Arnold and Theresa (Keller) Omlin on November 2, 1931 on the farm in Toppenish, Wa. He was
the sixth son born into the family and a true blessing as he was born on his father’s birthday. His
dad always told him he was the greatest birthday present he had ever received.

Arnie was a stand-out basketball player for the Toppenish High School Wildcats where he
excelled at both school and sports and graduated in 1950. Arnie joined the United States Air
Force in 1951 and served his country from 1951 to 1955. He came to the Quincy Valley in 1956
and decided to farm. He met his beautiful bride-to-be Virginia Millering in 1958. One of their
first dates was an outing to hunt pheasant. This did not deter Ginny and they were married in
November 1960. Ginny and Arnie had four children, Cathy, Beth, Cindy and Steve in short order
and made George, Washington their lifelong home. They were avid supporters of Quincy
athletics as all four children participated either playing sports or cheerleading for the Quincy
Jacks. Arnie was a little league baseball coach for Steve’s teams and was happy to break down
each game at the farmers table at Martha’s Inn the next day. He not only supported his own
children in these endeavors but he and Ginny became some of the Jack’s biggest fans as they
followed the Jacks all over Central Washington.

Arnie farmed his land in the Quincy Valley for over 64 years and was well-respected and beloved
in the farming community. Arnie’s passion for farming defined his lifelong career. He had an
even greater passion for his children and grandchildren as he taught them all to farm, serve
their community and learn to laugh at themselves. Arnie was quick-witted. A meal with Arnie
was never complete without a lot of laughter and fun at either his expense or one of ours. He
and Ginny were lifelong members of St. Pius X Catholic Church and attended mass every week.
Arnie’s life revolved around his church, his family and his farm.

Arnie was preceded in death by his five brothers and four of his sister-in-laws; Joe and Madeline
Omlin, John and Clara Omlin, George and Helen Omlin, Larry Omlin, and Jim and Anna Omlin.

He is survived by his wife Virginia of 61 years, his daughters Cathy (Rick) Weaver, Beth (Ray)
Maack, Cindy (Harold) Christensen, and his son Steve (Mary) Omlin. In addition, he is survived
by his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Lara (Nate) Law, Kaiden and Ruby Law,
Julia Weaver, Evan Maack, Malia Maack, Alexandra (Taylor) Maples, Logan Christensen, Pierce
Christensen, Craig Omlin, Chad Omlin and Marlo Omlin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law
Elma Omlin and many Keller cousins.

We will celebrate Arnie’s life with a rosary at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 6:00 pm on Sunday,
May 1, 2022 and a funeral mass at 11:00 am on Monday, May 2, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations to be sent to the St. Pius X Maintenance Fund, the Alzheimer’s
Association or a charity of your choice.

Please leave a memory for the family or sign the guestbook.
