Obituary for Charles Ray Tuttle

Charles “Ray” Tuttle
Quincy, WA
February 18, 1932-January 24,2022

Ray passed away Monday January 24, 2022, while resting peacefully. He was born February 18, 1932, in Lexington Kentucky to Gladys and Arthur Tuttle. He grew up in Lexington and in a number of other places as he was the son of a career Air Force serviceman, including Hawaii, South Carolina, California and Moses Lake.
It was while in Moses Lake that he ventured out to Odessa where he met the love of his life, Viola Wraspir. They were wed on August 31. 1952 in Odessa, WA. They settled in the Odessa area and began raising their young family until 1963 when they returned his birthplace. They returned to the Quincy area in 1965 where they made their home at Crescent Bar.

He farmed in the Colockum (Kittitas County) and the Trinidad area until retiring in 2001. The farm in the Colockum brought many challenges the average person may not embrace. Traveling the Columbia River every day to reach his workplace, not to mention years of skippering the ferry to get his wheat to market, is an example of his work ethic. However, Ray saw it as an opportunity and made a success of it.
During his life he worked hard to provide for his family and never complained. Along with being a farmer, he was also a carpenter and did other construction and farming jobs. He was a kind and quiet man who loved his family. On Sundays, you could find him enjoying a NASCAR Race, a steak and a good cigar. His grandkids remember that grandpa always had Double Bubble in his pocket for them.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, his children Charlene (Charlie) Anderson, Ken (Evelyn), and Linda (Kurt) Klaiber, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. And 1 sister Betty Royer.

No service is planned at this time.

Please leave a memory for the family or sign the guestbook.
