Obituary for Cheryl L Slusher

In Loving Memory of
Cheryl Lee Slusher
Quincy, WA

March 1, 1945 - December 20, 2021

Cheryl passed away peacefully at her home from complications of COPD. She died in Leon's loving arms after arriving home from a visit with friends.

Cheryl was raised in Cottage Grove Oregon by parents, Boyd and Marian Strong. Her Dad's job on the reclamation project brought the family to George. Cheryl graduated from Quincy High School in 1963. Fun fact: so, did Leon's sister Judy. Cheryl started her career as a server at Martha's Inn. She had an amazing work ethic which was evident by earning her retirement from Lamb Weston after 31 years.

Leon and Cheryl celebrated 54 years of marriage in October. They have been an inspiring example of love and commitment. Together they enjoyed camping all over the West in tents, then later in RVs. They attended Air Force reunions, Jaycee campouts, softball tournaments and competitive cribbage events. Mutually they loved bowling, flying kites, and especially going on vacations to the Washington and Oregon Coasts. Many fabulous adventures were had in Cabo San Lucas as well.

Cheryl was a wonderful woman with many facets. She was a lover of books and word search puzzles; a "Days of Our Lives" devotee; pull tab enthusiast and yummy potato salad maker. She was a meticulous housekeeper and bookkeeper with an expert green-thumb. Her windows always sparkled, and her jewelry shined, just as much as her heart.

Her grand kids and daughters were a light in her life. Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband, Leon; daughter Tanya (Pete) Volk and their children: Cooper and Courtney of Viola, Idaho; daughter Tina Bakke and her children: Haley, Hannah and Harlan of Twisp, Washington; family members and many fantastic friends.

A memorial service will be held on January 8th at 1 p.m. at Faith Community Church, 1005 10th Ave SW, Quincy, WA.
