Obituary for Dean Laymance

Ernest “Dean” Laymance
October 4, 1951 – May 2, 2021

On May 2nd, 2021, Ernest “Dean” entered peace with our Lord Jesus Christ in Wenatchee, Washington. Dean was born on October 4th, 1951 in Brewster, Washington to parents Dale and Margaret Laymance.

Growing up in East Wenatchee, Dean enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking with his family in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. After graduating in 1969 from Eastmont Senior High School, he went to work at ALCOA-Wenatchee Works where he remained employed for 35 years until his retirement in 2009.

As a young adult Dean was an avid backpacker exploring the great beauty of the wilderness. He and his wife, Kandae spent many days hiking, skiing, and traveling with family and dear friends throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Blues Festivals throughout the eastern part of Washington provided many opportunities for musical enjoyment for the couple most often in the consort with music loving friends. Dean was, however, a diehard avid “Beatles” fan throughout his days.

In retirement, he proved to be a fair challenge at ping pong and other activities with his good friends at the Wenatchee Senior Center.

Dean remained active in the Stemilt Hill Community Church where he thoroughly enjoyed working with the children in vacation bible school. He loved hearing the youngsters singing and worshiping in the sanctuary. The children’s Easter and Christmas programs were his special favorites.

Dean’s faith was a great source of strength and courage in his life and was stronger more than ever in his last days.
He was preceded in death by his father (Dale), mother (Margaret), Grandfather Ernest Laymance, Grandmother Cartha Darlington, and his older brother Ken Laymance.

Dean is survived by his wife of 34 years Kandae; daughters Jennifer of Olympia, WA and Erika of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons Damon and Dijon (Jennifer); granddaughters Vanessa and Karyssa (Erika); great granddaughter Michel`le (Vanessa); two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

Dean’s family extends deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and care staff at Central Washington Hospital Hospice Care at Confluence Health and Regency Wenatchee Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wenatchee for the kind, nurturing and positive spirit in which they cared for Dean and provided supportive comfort to the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made to the Alzheimer Foundation, Washington Chapter, 19031 33rd Ave W, #301, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

A small service will be held for Dean on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 at 1pm in the Stemilt Hill Community Church: take a right off the Malaga-ALCOA Highway onto Stemilt Creek Road; the church is located 7 miles up. You will literally drive right to the church.

The service will be streamed live and posted on Stemilt Hill Church Facebook page
