Obituary for Evan D Landin

Evan D Landin
We celebrate the life of Evan Duane Landin who went home on July 28, 2018.
Evan Duane Landin was born July 18, 1947 to Elmer and Ella (Hensley) Landin in Sunnyside, WA.
On January 4, 1950 he became a big brother to Ellyson (Elly) Landin Hughes. The family lived in Prosser until 1955 when they moved to Kennewick. Evan graduated from Kennewick High School in 1965. It was there he met his love and best friend Linda Mills during their senior year. They were married June 8, 1968.

Evan graduated in 1969 from Central Washington University. In his senior year he began the management training program for the National Bank of Commerce. In 1969, he and Linda moved to Montesano, WA after he was hired with National Bank of Commerce. It was while living in Montesano they were blessed the arrival of their son, Trevan Rhett. He was named after Evan’s favorite car, his TR4. With his middle name being Rhett, Evan often called Trevan “TR”.
In December 1972, Evan was transferred to Quincy. He worked for Herb Smith in a small branch that is now Barb’s Clothes and Things. Linda and Trevan joined him in January 1973. In 1975, Evan went to work for Bill Hauber at Lamb Weston. He loved his work and made many lifelong friends there. During his first year, they welcomed daughter Tera who was born March 6, 1976. Evan affectionately called her “T-Bell”.

Evan retired in 2004 and he and Linda enjoyed many trips in their 5th wheel. Among his favorites was a trip on the Delta Queen River boat, on the Mississippi River with his sister Elly and her husband Charlie. Later, the 4 of them took a trip to Europe and visited the old Hethel air base in England where Evan and Elly’s dad was stationed during the war.
Most recently, in March of this year, he and Linda took an 8,000 mile road trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where they enjoyed their first cruise in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Evan loved to travel. He loved reading, being with his children and grandchildren and his great granddaughter. In the last few months he especially loved sitting in his rocking chair and admiring his flowers. He loved his cousins and looked forward to the cousin’s reunion every year.

Evan was devoted to community service and had a long history serving the Quincy area. He was involved in Lions Club and Rotary, just to name a few, but had a contributing role in many community projects and boards.

He is survived by his wife Linda, son Trevan, wife Gretchen and granddaughter Molly; his daughter Tera, grandson Tyler, granddaughter Abby and great granddaughter Aaliyah; his sister Ellyson Hughes and husband Charlie, niece Kari Hughes Belcher, husband Danny Belcher and family, nephew Kyle Hughes, wife Nena and family; cousins Brenda (Ron) Carlton, Adie (Ed) Simond, Pam (Dic) Munson and Kent (Robyn) Landin.

A deep and heartfelt thank you to all for your thoughts, cards, food, hugs, support and prayers. Thank you to our Lord and Savior for His grace, strength and promise of eternal life through Him.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to Assured Hospice in Moses Lake. BJ, our nurse became family in a short time and was an angel of mercy. A big thank you to Protection One and Fire District 3 for all of your help and care during this time. You were and are a blessing.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Quincy Free Methodist Church, 301 I Street SW, Quincy, WA. A Luncheon will follow the service at Faith Community Church, 1005 10th Ave SW, Quincy, WA. Memorials contributions may be made to the Quincy Rotary Scholarship Fund, PO Box 641, Quincy, WA 98848.
