Everett Smith of Quincy, WA died August 30th 2022 in Moses Lake, WA.
He was born Grant Everett Smith on October 17 1937 in Holly Colorado where he lived with his parents Grant and Barbara Smith, and his 3 siblings. Everett attended school in Holly.
Everett entered the U. S. Navy in Jan 1956 serving until his honorable discharge in served Dec 1959.
He married Eva Baldwin in 1956. They moved with their 3 children to Quincy Washington in 1968 where he worked for the John Deere Company as shop foreman. Later, he took a position for Grant County Road Department. He retired as County Supervisor after working there for 27 years.
As he found retirement boring he went to work part time at Field Farms & Feedlot; a job that he truly enjoyed.
Later he worked for Bassett’s Truck Repair where new friendships were made.
He liked tinkering and building things from wood; running with Eva, and later the grandkids in community fun runs.
Eva and Everett ran every year in Spokane at Bloomsday. They also completed the San Francisco Marathon, and a marathon in Coeur D’ Alene Idaho.
He loved camping. He and Eva would take the grandkids on long vacations in the motorhome. The grandkids always talk about the places they went and his love of his classic country music; which has passed on to them. Many great memories were made. Another love he had was for animals; especially dogs. The dogs loved him as well. He was always sharing his food; therefore his dogs were never underweight!
Everett knew how to stand up for himself and speak his mind, but he was a softie when it came to his grandbabies, and great grandbabies. He was a devoted husband to his wife Eva, and was always by her side. They all loved him so much.
He will be greatly missed!
