Obituary for Ezequiel "Blaize" Nelson-Guerrero

Ezequiel “Blaize” Nelson-Guerrero was born on November 13, 1998, in Wenatchee, WA to Jennifer Nelson and Gerald Guerrero and was taken too soon, just weeks shy of his 24th birthday, on October 10, 2022.

Blaize spent the majority of his childhood roaming the 300 acres that made up Sun Valley Orchard. There he learned the things he enjoyed the most in life; gaming with his Uncles Randy and Daniel, showing off his rubix cube skills to anyone who would watch, and hunting with his Papa Lauro-constantly sporting camo and always ready to go.

Blazer, Boo, Easy B, or Mijo as he was affectionately called, insisted on hugging you just a little longer than average and his deep blue eyes gave a special glimpse into his kind, gentle, loving soul. Those glimpses looked like Blaize making time for those he loved, with Grandma Jean receiving much of it, and their time bringing them both great joy. The ones closest to him saw the witty and resilient Blaize, never afraid to fire back or interject a joke when it was called for. Blaize will be remembered as the easy-going young man, with curly hair and quiet swag, who wore an ear-to-ear smile and constantly reminded us, “everything was going to be okay.”

Blaize attended schools throughout the Columbia Basin graduating from Ephrata High School in 2017. After high school Blaize worked in various industries, settling on construction as a member of the Laborers Union.

Blaize is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Nathan Mack, father Gerald Guerrero, the love of his life Alma Velsco, great grandmother Jean Alfaro, Grandma Wanda and Papa Lauro Castellanos, grandmother Aurora Guerrero, grandfather Ausencio Guerrero, grandma Roxanne Mack, brothers Asher, Cole, and Conner (Sarah) Mack, Kaenen Trevino, uncles Daniel (Mary Kay) Castellanos, Randy (Chyna) Castellanos, Gilbert Guerrero, David Guerrero, Aaron Mack, Phillip Mack, and Aunt Dahlia (Juan) De La Rosa, and many cousins.

Psalms 23:6 Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am.”

A Resurrection Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Ephrata City Cemetery.
