Obituary for Leon Pat Meyer

Leon Pat Meyer

Leon went home to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was born in Plainview, Texas on March 15, 1936. His parents, John Henry and Ernestine (Willis) Meyer, owned a dairy farm where Leon grew up, the youngest of three boys. He met his future bride, Lendell Ann Reece, while still in high school and married her on August 27, 1954, shortly after graduating. They had enjoyed 60 years of marriage when Lendell passed away in 2015.

Leon committed his life to serving Jesus at 30 years of age and began his ministry at 2nd Avenue Baptist Church in Plainview. Lendell was very much a partner in this as well as all parts of life. During their 46 years of faithful service, he worked as Director of Music, Education and Youth, as an interim Pastor and as Head Pastor in churches in Memphis, TX, Anson, TX, La Mesa, CA, Wenatchee, Cashmere, Mansfield and Burlington, WA. They also ministered to numerous churches throughout the Northwest and beyond in evangelistic meetings. He retired in 2012 after serving at Calvary Baptist in Burlington for 14 years and moved back to the Wenatchee area to be near their children.

Leon and Lendell were well known and loved for their music. Leon sang, to Lendell’s accompaniment, and music was always a big part of their ministry. They not only loved Gospel music but truly loved the harmonies of barbershop quartets and choral music and passed this love of music to their children and grandchildren. They owned orchards in Wenatchee and Cashmere for many years which helped to support their ministry.

Leon was blessed in the last three years of his life to be married to Ann Gregg-Meyer and lived in Quincy, WA. He spoke often of her gifts of love, compassion, mercy and service. He is survived by Ann, his three children, Patsy (Rick) Ford, Tim (Alice) Meyer, Sue (Jon) Torrence, 10 grandchildren and six great -grandchildren, also Ann’s four children, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service honoring Leon will be held at the Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church, 650 Crawford Ave, Wenatchee, WA on Sunday, February 24th at 2:00pm.
