Obituary for Leonard L Greenwalt

The family of Leonard L. Greenwalt, formerly of Quincy, WA, are sorry to announce his passing on June 25, 2021, in Wenatchee, WA where he lived for the last 11 years.

Leonard was born January 1st, 1930, in Ault, Colorado. He was born to John and Amelia Greenwalt and was the oldest of 4 children. He lived in various small towns in Colorado and graduated from College High School in 1947. On June 11th, 1950, he married Florence Gunther in Greely, Colorado and in 1954 Leonard and Florence moved along with his parents to Quincy, WA to farm in the newly irrigated Columbia Basin. All 3 of his siblings followed suit.

Later, he did various jobs in the Quincy area, among them supervisor at Cedergreens Frozen Foods, eventually settling in at work for the City of Quincy. He served as Public Works Director for a time before becoming a city mechanic retiring in 1992.

Leonard was active in the Quincy area involved in the Farm Bureau, City Council, Community Theater, Weiler-Martin Water Association, and the Quincy Presbyterian Church. Leonard loved his family and enjoyed doing activities with them. He particularly liked baseball and was an avid follower of the Seattle Mariners and Gonzaga Basketball.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Florence, brother, Delbert Greenwalt of Naches, WA, 3 children and their spouses, Kathy (Joe) Herron of Wenatchee, Larry (Linda) Greenwalt of Jerome, Idaho, and Karen (Dave) Field of Spokane, WA. Leonard and Florence have 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Arnold and Jerry.

The family would like to thank Ella’s Adult Family Home and Central Washington Hospice for the loving care that they provided Leonard.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Kentucky Ave., East Wenatchee, WA 98802.
