Obituary for Maxine Tjoelker

Maxine Louise Tjoelker (formerly Lenssen), 83 of Quincy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2021, following a brief illness. She was born in Lynden, WA the eldest of 14 children to Leonard and Johanna Lenssen. On March 20, 1958, she married John Tjoelker and in 1962 they moved to Quincy where they built a farm.

She was a charter member of the Quincy Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed playing the accordion, canning, baking, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, sewing and quilting. She made numerous quilts which she donated to various charities even as recently as this summer.

Maxine loved being a hostess for overnight guest, friends, and family who came to visit.
Always ready with fresh cookies and bars!

She is survived by her husband, John, children Dennis and Adel Tjoelker, Sheryl and Bert VanAndel, and Ken and Kori Tjoelker. Grandchildren, Tom and Karli Tjoelker, Emma and Hunter Berens and Sam VanAndel, step-grandchildren Shawn and Melody, Andrea and Paul, Ryan, Adam and Kiffen along with great-grandchildren, Madison, Danica, Wyatt, Razel, Christopher, Jaxon, Devan, Lena, and baby boy due in September.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held later.
