My Uncle Merle earned a Black Belt in Taekwondo while serving in the U.S. Army in Korea. That inspired me to learn martial arts and become the 2nd Black Belt in the family! Merle was a very bright guy as well. He will be missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Merle. He was a wonderful student in the 1961 Genesee High School Class; twelve classmates attend all 12 years of school together. Merle was active in Christian Youth Fellowship through the Community Church; I can picture him assembling the outdoor manager at Christmas and attending youth events throughout the Northwest. I feel his faith journey was encouraged by his faithful parents. His father often lead bible classes at the Community Church.
Merle always kept classmated laughing with quick comments and jokes. He was loving and kind to everyone!
I last heard about Merle from my first cousin, Dwight Gottschalk and wife, Marilyn. They adored your dear family.
With prayers of thankfulness for Merle's amazing life, I will keep your family in my prayers. (Karen Hillman Ruggiero)

I have many fond memories of Merle and our time in Law Enforcement. My deepest condolences to Terri and family. He will be
