Obituary for Norman "Snap" Keene

Husband, father, brother, son, and friend to many, Norman Frank Keene, better known as Snap Keene, was called home by Jesus on Tuesday, April 26th at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington, at the age of 69. He is preceded in death by his father Norman “Bud” Keene and his mother Mickey Vail, his sister, Sharon Keene and brother, Don Alexander. Snap is survived by his beautiful wife, Rita Keene, his son Christian Keene (Jill), his daughters, Tina Lagonegro (Bob), Jennifer Priest (Mark), Michelle Skinner (Kyle) and Nichol Knebel (Ed), and 14 grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and survived by siblings Shelly Larson, Brent Alexander, Janet McDonald, and Kim Elzie.

He was born in Cheney, Washington, in 1952, and he lived an abundant life filled with family, hard work, humor, and adventure. Attending high school in Pasco, Washington, he remained close to his high school “buddies.” He attended college at Columbia Basin Community College and went through the electrical apprenticeship program. After meeting his wife, Rita Escure, in 1978 and living in Tri-Cities for a few years, they moved their family to George in 1984, returning to Rita’s hometown, where he has been a well-loved and valuable community member.

Being an electrician, his life’s work was diverse; he developed his own successful electrical contracting business in 1995, Snapco Electric. In 2005 he started Pivotal Advantage with two good buddies having designed and manufactured irrigation control panels. In 2003 he signed on with Eqraft, a Dutch company based out of Holland, which allowed him to spend the last 19 years traveling abroad as their USA Sales Executive.

His love for family gatherings created many wonderful memories his family will cherish. Each year he looked forward to our family reunions that brought everyone together. The last family reunion this past August was held in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park where unforgettable memories were made and will be cherished forever. He was able to visit each of his children’s homes in the past few months, unknowingly being his last.

His life reflects a life of diverse interests. Being adept at social interaction, Snap was well known in his community. If he wasn’t working, he spent his leisure time as an avid golfer, fly fishing in the glorious rivers of Montana, touring and tasting good wine wherever he went, listening to his favorite music on a white sandy beach, or dining on delicious food with his Miss Rita.

His laugh, love and life are irreplaceable. A man who lived life to the fullest and loved deeply, Snap will live forever in our hearts and memories.

We will celebrate a rosary at 7 pm on Thursday, May 19th, 2022, and a funeral mass at 11:00am on Friday, May 20th, 2022, at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
