Velvet Rose Chamberlain was born February 10, 1952 to her parents George Allen and Phyllis Joy Latimer in Spokane, Washington. She left this world peacefully in the presence of family on June 27, 2020.

Velvet flourished in a loving home with wonderful parents and 2 siblings. As the oldest child she adored her siblings, Leslie and Rex. They lived in Odessa, Lind and Spokane.

Velvet was blessed with many talents throughout her life. As a child she loved music, dance, and gymnastics. She grew into a beautiful woman, even modeling professionally for a time. More impressive than her striking beauty was her fun loving personality, patience, compassion, and more than anything, love.

She found and married her devoted companion, Roger Chamberlain. Velvet and Roger enjoyed nearly 42 years filled with love. Together they raised six amazing children in their beloved tight knit community of Ephrata, Washington. Velvet loved and admired Roger and the steadfast support he provided their family.

Velvet was the most extraordinary mother and grandmother. It was the role in life that she most enjoyed. She was a friend, advocate, confidant, and cheerleader for them. She wore a heavy heart when they were hurting. She lived for them and was there for them in every way. She attended every event she was able to, and always remembered special days. Above all, she loved them fiercely.

In 1984 her daughter, Chessa, left this world after battling illness and disability her entire life. This experience left Velvet with a strong desire to learn to care for others. She went back to school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked for 29 years at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. Those who worked with her described her as an angel with the most infectious smile; the perfect friendly face for patients to wake up to after surgery.

Velvet used her time and talents to bless the lives of those around her. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she developed a very personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She truly served others as Jesus would. She had a gift of making those around her feel so special and loved. Velvet Rose lived up to the beauty of her given name in every way.

Velvet is survived by her husband, Roger Chamberlain and their children: Todd and Shana Chamberlain, Aletha and Brian Kenworthy, Roger and Becca Chamberlain, Chelsea and Tyler Chase, Wesley and Shelby Chamberlain. She also leaves her 19 grandchildren, sister, Leslie and husband Brad Deakins, and brother Rexford Latimer.
We love you, dear Velvet, and look forward to your warm and loving embrace and gorgeous smile at our sweet reunion in Heaven.

I worked with Missy Velvet-Rose as I liked to call her, in the PACU of Samaritan Hospital. We laughed a lot together and when we were waiting for patients to come out of the OR, we would be "exercising" or doing some crazy activity that would just make us bust up in laughter and we'd giggle over just about anything! She even tried to teach me how to walk as a model - now that put us over the edge and I don't think we ever recovered from that one! I treasure the moments and hold her dear to my heart. She IS a Treasure, she will be greatly missed by all who really knew her.

I used to own the daycare and preschool Velvet brought the kids to in Ephrata and then I had the honor to work with her as a nurse at Samaritan. She was a good friend through some tough spots in my life and we shared lots of stories about out disabled children. I was thinking of her just the other day. I know that her family will miss her very much! Rhonda (Hall) Jensen
