Obituary for Wilnoree L "Willie" Fowler

Wilnoree Lovis Holt Fowler
September 24, 1921 – February 10, 2021

Wilnoree IWillie) Fowler of East Wenatchee and former longtime Quincy resident made her divine transition into her eternal home on February 10, 2021.

She was born into a Christian home near Ash Flat, Arkansas, to William Christopher Holt and Glenora Alice Holt. She was the youngest of nine children. Her early years were shaped by the economic hard times of the Great Depression, during which time were instilled her ability of management and her hard work ethic.

Following high school 18-year-old Willie and 18-year-old JB Fowler, boyfriend, and girlfriend since fourth grade, began married life together. They moved to Wenatchee, where their three children were born, then moved to Bridgeport where JB worked on the Chief Joseph Dam. In 1957, after being involved in numerous endeavors, they moved to Quincy and became full-time farmers. Their farming lasted forty years until they were both 75, at which time they retired. During all those years she did not work outside the home much, but was matriarch to a growing family and, according to scripture (Genesis 2:18), she was JB’s helpmate and became his “right hand man,” helping in whatever way she was needed.

Willie was involved in all kinds of church activities and endeavors through the years. She enjoyed most kinds of music, especially Southern Gospel Quartets. Throughout her life she received singing awards and participated in choirs. She square danced for many years and belonged to garden clubs from 1958 to 2016. She enjoyed traveling, saying she was always ready to go somewhere, and traveled throughout the U.S by motorhome, and went to Europe and Hawaii.

Her greatest joys were her love of God and her salvation through Jesus Christ, her Lord, and raising and caring for her family. She was a gracious hostess to everyone who came to visit and truly went that extra mile to offer encouragement to others. A lover of people, her primary God-given gift was hospitality, for which she had a kind heart and generous spirit. She would like to be remembered for her love of the Lord and her family and host of friends. Finally, Willie would like to say, “Thank you all for blessing my life with your love, and may God protect and keep you close until we meet again.”

Wilnoree was preceded in death by her parents William and Glenora Holt, her husband JB (2017) her daughter Jill (2001) and by her eight siblings – Archie, Clark, Chloe, Lois, Iva, Raymond, Treva and half-brother Coy.

Her legacy lives on through her children, son Ronald (Cynthia) Fowler, daughter Beverly Fowler, and grandchildren Dirk (Robin) Fowler, Kristopher (Alyson) Fowler, Tisha Boorman (David) Cornett, Mandy Boorman (James) Moore, Justin Stumpf, Bryn Boorman and many great grandchildren.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card or called to say you care.
Perhaps you sent a nice bouquet. If so, we were aware.
Perhaps you spoke kind words as any friend can say.
Perhaps you could not come, but thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
We thank you so much whatever the part.

Special thanks to health care providers for the past few years, especially Dr. Alexandra Graham and the staff at Bonaventure of East Wenatchee.

A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, September 25, 2021 (she would have been 100 years old on her birthday September 24th) at the Quincy Free Methodist Church (pending the Covid restrictions).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Quincy Free Methodist Church, 301 I Street SW, Quincy, WA 98848
