Obituary for William Lee Nolan

William Lee  Nolan
William “Bill” Lee Nolan, 87, long time Quincy-George resident passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 20, 1925 at Prineville, Oregon to Mathias F and Audra (Combs) Nolan.
Bill attended school at Powell Butte and graduated from Redmond High School with high Honors as Valedictorian in 1944, following graduation he entered the U.S. Navy serving until his honorable discharge in 1946.

He worked on the family farm for a year before moving to Packwood, WA where he was employed at the local sawmill.

Bill and Goldie Skellenger were married on November 20, 1949 at Redmond, OR. They moved to the Quincy-George area in 1953 where Bill farmed until 1983 when he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Goldie Nolan of George, children, David Nolan of Touchet, Roger Nolan of Quincy and Sandra Nolan of Soap Lake, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, brothers, Franklin Nolan of Redmond, OR and Danny Nolan of Circle City, AZ.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gregory, granddaughter, Katie Nolan and sister, Marie Horsell.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, 214 Deacon Ave., George, WA with Pastor Jeff Berndt officiating.
Family and friends are invited to a potluck reception at the church following the service.
