Corallee Morgan, 74, passed away on November 5, 2016 in Wenatchee after a long illness; her love and kindness will be missed by her friends and family.

She was born August 8, 1942 to Bill and Lafern Morgan in Auburn. She grew up with her two siblings Dee and Burdell in nearby Pacific, graduating from Auburn High School in 1960 at the top of her class academically.

She married and had a son in 1961, worked a short while for the phone company and then Boeing until 1972. That year would be life changing for her, moving away from family and friends to an area she had never been, a place that would be home for the rest of her life, Quincy.

Corallee worked several jobs including driving seasonal trucks and school bus, but it would be her 32 years working at the Quincy Post Office that most of the community would recognize her from. She loved her customers, all her friends and all her community.

After retirement she would go on to work on several community service projects and groups. They included the new Quincy Library, Community Center, Centennial Celebration and last but not least, Lions. Her service to Lions brought many years of joy and lifelong friends. Favorite projects with the Quincy Valley Lions included the scholarship committee, Peace Poster contest, Turkey Bingo and the Harvest Maze.

Last year’s district governor wrote the following, “Corallee served the Quincy Valley Lions club for 14 years as a dedicated Lion, sharing her compassion for others in both leadership and service. Being of giving heart, she expanded serving as Zone Chairperson 2011-2012, overseeing seven clubs, and then stepping up in the District as GLT (Global Leadership Trainer) for District 119D, serving parts of Washington and British Columbia. She was a very dedicated Lion who served proudly and will greatly missed.”

Corallee also enjoyed many hobbies and crafts including cooking, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, cake decorating, growing cactus, orchids and iris.
She made many lifelong friends through her school, work, hobbies and service. They all would be her most valuable and cherished part of her life.

Corallee is survived by her son and his wife, Mike and Tami Hawkins, and two very loved and adored grandchildren, Maverick Joseph Dean and Ellenoir Marie Gail Hawkins. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Burdell and David Austin and nephew Jon Austin.

Corallee was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lafern Morgan and brother, Dee Morgan.

A memorial celebrating Corallee’s life will be held at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy, Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2 p.m.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Corallee’s house after the memorial.
